AC Shadows Unveils Surprising AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a surprising partnership that challenges usual predictions, the game developer has unveiled an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Revealed
According to the official announcement, "A mysterious encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of forbidden rituals and terrifying metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret cult.
The questline centers on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Changes
The preview features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Additional Features
Players who accomplish the quest will acquire an unique katana together with multiple objects concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Content
This release also introduces the game's newest complimentary story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
